A steam locomotive or engine is a rail transport vehicle that produces its pulling power through a steam engine. Steam locomotives were developed in the United Kingdom in the early 19th century.

It was used for more than 2 centuries and now has become a heritage in India. But still, we can enjoy its ride in Darjeeling, West Bengal (Darjeeling toy train or Darjeeling Himalayan Railway) and in Ooty, Tamilnadu (Nilgiri Mountain Railway Toy Train).
