Oil on Canvas
In this semi-realistic painting, Tirthankar Biswas is trying to depict the view of an Indian village. Here, a herd of cows is returning to their cowshed through a dirt track of a village. Cows are very responsible as they return to their cowshed on their own, they don’t need their owner. It is quite astonishing that they remember their way home. In Hindu mythology, people honor cows like a mother.
It is believed that when Lord Krishna took his cows for grazing grass, he used to carry his flute with him. He played music so pleasant that the cows forget to eat the grass and started listening to the music, not only the cows but other animals also loved to listen to his music. Because of this, the cows used to produce more milk than the other cows.
