Artist’s Statement:
To me, art is most powerful when it communicates with clarity and emotional resonance. I strive for this through the purity of line, the lyrical use of color, and imagery that seems to glow with inner light, one of the rarest and most elusive qualities in painting.
Leaves are a recurring theme in my work, representing nature in its many moods and serving as a metaphor for life itself. I seek to capture their gentle rustle like an evening breeze, their wild energy in a summer storm, and their quiet beauty, like moonlight reflected on water.
My lifelong fascination with the lotus flower has become a central inspiration. Over the years, I’ve studied its habitat and its relationship with the birds and insects that depend on it. This journey has deepened my understanding of the flower’s origins and the many varieties that thrive around the world.
Most people know the lotus as a flower that closes at night and reopens with the morning sun. But in my research, I discovered something more intimate: during the night, a species of beetle finds refuge inside its petals. This delicate coexistence, unseen by most, speaks to the hidden harmony of nature. It’s this essence I aim to capture in Essence of Leaves – 3.
