Umesh Ramchandra Patil is a contemporary Indian abstract painter based in Thane, Maharashtra, India, whose work combines expressive colour, layered texture, and rhythmic form. Born in 1981, he completed his G.D. Art from L. S. Raheja School of Art, Mumbai, in 2008, where he developed technical mastery and conceptual grounding in abstract expression.

Patil’s artistic philosophy centers on the movement from inner reason to outer creation, capturing visual rhythm and spontaneity as essential forces in his practice. He sees each painting as a dynamic space where colours, lines, and forms interact continuously, layering and blending into one another to create evolving visual narratives that reflect both internal cognition and external presence.

Working predominantly in acrylic on canvas, Patil often explores how abstract elements can express emotion and movement without predefined structure. His compositions are marked by vibrant hues, energetic gestures, and textured surfaces that invite viewers to engage with shifting pictorial layers and sensation.

(Unrevealed – Reason | Revealed – Creation)

Every artwork begins with an unseen process within the artist’s mind. This inner, unrevealed state becomes the reason for expression, and when it takes visual form, it becomes creation. Without this silent inner journey, true artistic expression cannot exist.

I believe that everything in the universe moves in rhythm. Life unfolds through continuous patterns of events that cannot be altered. From abstract existence to visible form, this movement is natural, spontaneous, and guided by the laws of nature. When this rhythm and spontaneity become part of lived experience, visual awareness deepens, leading to a sense of creative fulfillment and inner joy.

This process lies at the heart of my paintings. In my work, a line does not remain just a line, and a form does not remain fixed. Each element transforms, opens into multiple possibilities, and flows freely. As colours, textures, and rhythms merge, forms evolve, overlap, and dissolve into one another. Some shapes retain their presence, while others fade with time, yet the painting itself remains alive in the present moment.

Through abstraction, I seek to reveal the continuous transformation of visual reality. My artworks explore layers of shifting forms and spaces, where emptiness and movement coexist. These changing visual rhythms create my artistic space, inviting viewers to experience the beauty of transition, perception, and inner reflection.
