Visual Artist Sekhar Roy was born on 17th August 1973 in Kolkata. His youth was entirely different from others. His Guru (teacher) is late. Prof. Gopal Sanyal showed him a path to follow when he was absolutely lost and stuck in his life. Under all his guidance and blessings, he did many solo exhibitions and participated in various group shows and camps. He was influenced by the Indian mythological character Lord Krishna since childhood and loves to paint him on canvas. His paintings have the power to invoke the devotion of even the non-devotees, such is the capture of his art.
Sekhar Roy uses vibrant and strong strokes in a unique style for his figurative artwork which he has developed over the years. His paintings have a strong shading with clear differentiation between bright and shade. Strong Outlines and definite poses give his expressive figures a grounded beauty, and it stands out from a softer, faded background.
Looking for a sharp contrast with subtle impressions, these paintings are supposed to make your walls the most attractive feature of your house. While every artist has a story to tell, his art tells a story through the paints, strokes, color theme, and the eyes of the characters.
