Prof. Him Chatterjee is a celebrated Indian visual artist and academic, currently serving as Chairman of the Department of Visual Arts at Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla.

He has designed and installed more than 100 large-scale public artworks, including murals at New Delhi’s Integrated Transit Corridor (Pragati Maidan), the world’s longest outdoor mural.

His versatility spans acrylic paintings, pen, pencil and charcoal drawings, and large murals. His art is deeply influenced by the Himalayan landscape, and he often creates abstract landscapes and architectural imagery of historic Indian structures.

Prof. Him’s artistic lineage comes from his father, Sanat Kumar Chatterjee, a noted Bengal-School painter and sculptor. Beyond his practice, he has played a key role in shaping visual arts education, he’s been Dean, mentor to PhD students, and a member of advisory and curriculum boards.
