Nataraj depicts a Hindu God Shiva as a dancer. The dance style according to the Hindu arts and sculptors or texts.
His dancing style is called Tandav. There are two types of Tandav (dance) of Shiva. One is in angry mood and another is in happy mood. As per Hindu mythology the angry dance style destroys the world and dance style in happy mood recreates the world.
Usually the word Tandav is used in negative sense while it is a form of dance in both negative mood and happy mood with opposite results.
Lord Shiva is called as Nataraj because it depicts a single image lord Shiva's versatile identity of the creator, preserver and destroyer of the universe. It conveys the never ending cycle of time.
